I went to St. Mary School in Crompton, R.I. I was an Altar Boy in the 7th and 8th grades, and was 8th grade class president. One of the most fun things I did during elementary school was go to a classmate's house before school in 7th and 8th grades and play guitar in his rock band.

Do you have family in the area?
I live with my wife, Mary, and son, Henry, in Arlington. I have been married for 27 years. Henry is in his freshman year at William and Mary.

What college did you attend?
I graduated UC Riverside in 1974, and the University of San Diego Law School in 1978.

What is your educational philosophy?
Education is what remains after you have forgotten what you have learned. One of my Brothers in High School passed this along to me, and I connected with it immediately.
