Job Title:
Assistant Principal, Middle School Social Studies and Religion Teacher, Eighth-grade Homeroom

Location:
Elementary School Campus

Years at Corpus Christi:
One exciting decade
What is your title and responsibilities for the school?
I am in charge of an eighth grade homeroom. I teach social studies and religion to the eighth grade, and social studies to the seventh grade. I am also the assistant principal, which allows me to keep track of demerits (boo!) and to make the afternoon announcements (yay!).

When did you start with the school?
I started at Corpus Christi in the fall of 1999.

Where have you worked previously?
I once worked in the office of former U.S. Senator Ernest Hollings, and in the legislative affairs office at the U.S. Department of Commerce. I also volunteered for the Diocesan mission parishes in the Dominican Republic.

Where were you born (city and state/country) and live as a young child?
I was born in the state of Hawaii, and lived on the island of Oahu until I went to college.

What was your elementary school, were you involved in any extracurricular clubs or sports and what funny thing do you remember most about it?
I went to Waiau Elementary School through the fifth grade, and to Maryknoll School from sixth grade until twelfth grade. I was a member of the retreat planning team, the Spanish club, and the National Honor Society. I was also in Boy Scouts, and played a variety of sports growing up. Lastly, I went to the beach every week of the year growing up. When I was in high school we sometimes went to the beach for P.E. class.

Do you have family in the area?
I have been married for over thirteen years, and I have two boys, aged seven and two.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy playing sports. At this point in life this includes primarily running and playing tennis, and whatever my seven year old wants to practice. I enjoy reading and building things out of wood. I most enjoy spending time with my family doing anything.

What college did you attend?
I attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.

What is your educational philosophy?
Every student can learn with the proper guidance and motivation. I enjoy weaving the Catholic faith into everything I teach, making cross-curricular connections, and bringing in real-life examples. I also strive to bring humor into the classroom.
