Athletics

Sports and physical education are an important part of a Corpus Christi education. Starting in our preschool classes, continuing through our third grade classes, our students learn the beauty of physical movement helping to develop physical discipline and self confidence.

In third through eighth grades, Corpus Christi offers a variety of competitive sports teams, including our Division I basketball teams, top seated track and field and our demanding tennis and softball programs. Personal achievement, team-building and sportsmanship outside the classroom help complement the mental and academic challenges students face inside the classroom.

Corpus Christi is proud of our strong athletics programs with our girls and boys varsity basketball teams competing in Division I, and most of our other basketball teams (junior varsity, junior, 5th and 4th grades) are in Division I or II, with several teams posting undefeated seasons last year.
The Northern Virginia Junior Catholic Youth Organization, called the NVJCYO, has a member organization of approximately 45 parishes from the Diocese of Arlington. It organizes a Track Meet, a Basketball organization consisting of 10 leagues, Cheerleading, Softball, Baseball and Tennis.

The purpose of the league is to provide an introduction to the game of basketball, to practice to improve the skills and to play in games against other schools and in tournaments.

Anyone interested in joining Corpus Christi's basketball team must attend the first practice according to the schedule below the week of October 5th.

Requirements to participate are that students must be in Grades 4-8.
Required equipment or supplies:
All students should have high-top shoes with a good tread. Having a basketball to practice with at home would be beneficial as well.
