Corpus Christi Takes Tops in Macy's Contest

1/05/09

One of the fun holiday traditions that comes each year during the Christmas Holidays is enjoying the beautiful department store window displays.

Often professional designers create magical fantasy holiday worlds in these windows designed to thrill and awe the lucky visitors that brave the cold weather and get to walk past to enjoy them.

This year, in addition to their annual display window contest, Macy's Department Stores committed to donate one dollar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, for each letter that they received from school children between Kindergarten and third grade, up to one million dollars.

Ms. Marilyn Mitros, who teaches second grade at Corpus Christi, arranged for the Macy's at Ballston Common Mall to display all the letters sent in by our students in their outdoor display windows off Glebe Road as part of the display window contest.

Just after Christmas, Ms. Mitros was notified that the Corpus Christi window display won the regional award for the best display window in the Washington area.

In case you weren't able to see the display in person, you can enjoy some photos from this award-winning event.

Congratulations to Ms. Mitros and the Kindergarten through third-grade classes for helping Macy's make some wishes come true!!
