Folk Music and Preschoolers

4/02/09

Spirited old favorites and original good time songs performed with a toe tapping country flavor. That's what musicians John Kirk & Trish Miller brought to Corpus Christi School this week as they played folk music songs to our preschoolers and kindergartners.

With songs from their award-winning album "The Big Rock Candy Mountain", John and Trish entertained and delighted the younger set with favorites like "Big Rock Candy Mountain" and "Froggie Went A Courtin'" along with some original songs such as "I Read It In A Book" and "I'm My Own Grandpa".

These talented musicians introduced the students to another genre of music in a fun and educational manner. The music was so engaging and the lyrics are so inviting that the kids wanted to jump up and participate.

The musicians gave three performances to the preschool and kindergarten classes who easily and openly connected with the music, the songs and the musicians. You can read more about the John Kirk & Trish Miller by clicking here.
