Six Corpus Christi students showed off their musical talents in the Diocesan Honor Band concert on Tuesday, May 5, at Bishop Ireton High School's Garwood Whaley Auditorium.
The students -- eighth graders Bethany B., Josh M., Lyndsay M., Kevin S. and Peter K., and sixth grader Michael U. -- were part of an ensemble of 90 musicians who performed three challenging pieces: "Under The Rice Moon," "Forest Brook Overture," and "An Old-Fashioned American Suite." They were joined in the concert by Ireton's Concert Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
The Honor Band Program, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is designed to challenge upper-level musicians from 27 schools in the Arlington Diocese. The students rehearsed once a week for 10 weeks to prepare for the concert. They were guided in their efforts by Corpus Christi band director Nicole Dovey and other band teachers from around the Diocese.
