Inclement Weather Policy

If Fairfax County Schools close for the entire day, then school, daycare and extended day will be closed also.

Corpus Christi School follows the Fairfax County School system on decisions made due to inclement weather including school closings, delayed openings, early closings, and cancellation of after school/evening activities. All decisions should be made by 6:00 am for closings and delayed openings. For early dismissals, Fairfax County generally makes a decision by 10:30 am. Most television and radio stations will announce Fairfax County School closings and delays.

Parents need to listen to local television/radio stations for closings/delayed openings. Parents will NOT be notified by the school if closings occur before or after school hours. The school-wide notification system will be used to notify families under TWO circumstances:
  • Changes in school closings occur during school hours
  • If we have a closing/delay different from Fairfax County due to unusual circumstances

When parents are notified by the school-wide notification system, they will be contacted by the following methods: home phone, parents' work/cell phones, family email, and parents' emails. Please do not call the school.

When possible, information will also be available on the school website as soon as possible.

The following table summarizes the weather situation and the impacts to the opening and dismissal times for the school, Daycare, Preschool, Kindergarten, Extended-Day and other school activities:

After-School and Evening Activities
If school closes on time, but all after school activities are cancelled Extended Day and Daycare both close at 6pm.
Parents are encouraged to pick up children as soon as is safely possible.
If evening activities are canceled Only evening school activities will be canceled. After school activities will still occur.
If school is to open with a two hour delay, it will become a DAY ZERO and the scheduled DAY will get moved to the next school day 8:20am opening becomes 10:20am at CCE
  • Preschool and Kindergarten start at 10am
  • Daycare and Extended Day open at 9am
If this occurs on an Early Dismissal day, the 1:30pm dismissal becomes 3:20pm dismissal
If school is to close two hours early 3:20pm dismissal becomes 1:20pm
  • Daycare and Extended Day will close at 6pm
  • Morning preschool will close on time
  • Afternoon preschool is cancelled
  • Parents are encouraged to pick up children as soon as is safely
    possible.


School Uniforms

Flynn and O'Hara is our designated partner for school uniforms. They are located in Fairfax, Virginia. Their website is www.flynnohara.com.

Note that PE uniforms are purchased through the school during the first two weeks of school. Students will be fitted and receive their warm weather PE uniform after Labor Day. The sweats will be delivered in late October/early November.
